Darts - just a game right?
|
Are we all agreed that while darts is a fun game to play down the pub, it can't be called a sport by any stretch?

Why isn't it a sport? 2 people competing against each other.
More of a sport than swimming or women's heptathlon

...at least the Women's Heptathlon is conducted outdoors, whereas the men's is strictly an indoor competition.

Back in the day there used to be on to a competition between various sportsmen a multi discipline sporting competition. I well remember Kevin Keegan crashing his bike in a race around a standard athletics track.
Noticeable was that no darts players ever took part and furthermore darts was not one of the activities either.

That's because Superstars was for Sports.
For pub games you needed to watch The Indoor League: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Indoor_League

It's a scientific fact that if you can improve at something after a few pints, it's not a sport.
So that's darts and snooker to start you off...

An activity where you need to be at your peak of physical fitness to improve your performance is a sport.
Darts is none of the above. It's a game. A very entertaining game that I very much enjoy, but a game nonetheless, just like snooker, pool, poker and Connect four.
